The management of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) played hosts to the President and management of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) in a courtesy visit on the 1st of November 2016 at the BPP premises. The visiting team was led by the Institute’s president, Mrs. Mercy Iyortyer, FNIQS.

The BPP team was led by its Director General, Mamman Ahmadu, FNIQS, and included Engr. Babatunde Kuye, Director, Energy Infrastructure; Aliyu E. Aliyu, head of the Database and Regulation Department, SA to the DG, Mr. S.U Buba and Head of the Media Unit, Thomas Odemwingie.

The NIQS presidentfelicitated with the new Director-General on his appointment andreiterated that his appointment is an eloquent testimony of his track record of professional service, integrity, justice and commitment to national growth and development. She was confident that the appointment of one of their own will inspire upcoming Quantity Surveyors. She called for collaboration between the Institute and the Bureau towards institutionalization of procurement audit in the procurement process in Nigeria.

 In his response, Mr. Ahmadu shared his vast professional experiences spanning public service, academics and private practice with the audience and welcomed the prospects of cooperation and collaboration between the Bureau and the institute in the fight against corruption in strict adherence to the Public Procurement Act (PPA) 2007 and in line with the change agenda of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
